Company Overview

WHAT IS MEDCALM?
Medcalm is an audio wellness solution provider that offers an integrative approach to patient care addressing the needs of patients by reducing the fear, anxiety and overall stress associated with seeing a doctor, dentist or medical professional. We offer patient care programs, either existing or customized, through patient care systems. These range from the Medcalm System, which features wireless headphones to compact MP3 players. We also provide programs to work with CCTV’s in patient rooms. Patients can become more relaxed and open, whether sitting in a waiting room or undergoing treatment, allowing doctors and nurses to focus their energies on providing the best medical care.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?
We offer our own programs consisting of a unique mind/body approach to healing employing elements of several different techniques, including Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Ericksonian hypnotherapy and meditation. Steven Leeds and
Dr. Rachel B. Hott, who run the Neuro-Linguistic Programming Center in New York, developed this method. World-renowned sound healer, Steven Halpern, performs background music and provides sound healing on its own. Medcalm also offers premier audio programs from world-renowned leaders in the field of Mind/Body Medicine, like Dr. Bernie Siegel, Dr. Brian Weiss and Dr. Roxanne Daleo, who offers programs to help children relax and reduce stress. Additionally, by using wireless headphones or personal audio units, patients can receive the benefit of these relaxation response techniques before, during or after treatment. While other companies offer relaxation tapes or CDs, Medcalm has found innovative ways of bringing programs to patients where and when they need it the most.

The “Medcalm solution” consists of a unique wireless headphone system or MP3 players, audio wellness CDs, customization programs and consulting services that work in concert with healthcare professionals. No other company provides such a fully integrated and sound healing approach.

Medcalm has been chosen by Planetree, a prestigious non-profit organization committed to improving medical care from the patient’s perspective, to be the Provider of Choice for all audio wellness solutions

Our Team

Amy Gordon-Fisher spent twenty years in the Menswear wholesale field. She held senior positions in several companies, heading up a multi-man sales force, as well as having responsibility for financial, marketing, designing, promoting and advertising decisions. Eventually, she left the corporate environment and became a managing partner in J. Fisher and Co., a Menswear sales agency in New York City.

After going through a medical procedure, Amy became aware of how anxious she and other patients were before and during treatment. She realized through her own experience that there was a tremendous need to help alleviate anxiety, not only for patients, but for others who suffered from phobias, like fear of flying. Amy became inspired to find a solution. She studied and became certified in Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and began a private practice dealing with stress, anxiety and phobias. In 2001, she met Mary Denise Verses and co-founded Medcalm and Flycalm, innovative companies dedicated to bringing voice and sound healing programs to people wherever needed. They share a belief that Medcalm will fill a void in patient care and become the premier audio wellness solution provider in America.
